Welcome To Eat Well Campaign Ghana

Right from conception through childhood to old age, what we eats influences our well being. Many people especially children and adolescents do not get to eat the right foodsin the right combinations required to remain in good health. As a result they do not grow well, become ill and under perform both physically and mentally.

Many are overweight while others are undernourished due to nutritional ignorance, resulting in several diet- related disorders. Good health is our most valuable commodity. A carefully selected diet can prevent illness and prolong life. Therefore making healthy food choices is paramount. The body relies on seven nutrients for its physiological functions- energy, organ function, food utilization and cell growth namely carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, mineral, dietary fiber, and water are necessary for good health.

A balance diet is something easily found in books but rarely on the table. Unfortunately no possible balanced diet is likely to meet our nutritional needs today. Most people eat just to fill their stomach. It doesn't always have to be that way.

Serving sizes should be individually determined; smaller amounts for less active people, larger amount for children, teenagers and people who do physiological strenuous work. On the contrary in the desire to satisfy daily hunger and desires we may succumb to less than healthy choice for our children who then suffer.
In the light of the above the EAT WELL Campaign project provides an integrated fast track approach to promoting children and adolescent and adult well being through nutrition
